The “babies” survived their first winter well covered up with soil. Now it’s time to help them get through the hard soil. A few were strong enough to push their way through but most of them need to be carefully uncovered. The piles look like mole hills and you have to be extremely cautious where to hack because you might just hack through the fresh rose branch. It feels like being on an excavation site – only difference: We are are uncovering something alive. And since around 3000 little roses take a lot of time fortunately we had great help from six local women. This way we managed to get done in a day and a half.
