Where is the rain? Everywhere but here!
What a dry rose picking season we had this year! Usually we have periods where we can get stuck with our boots in the muddy fields and the roses are soaked in water. This year we were anticipating some sort of rainfalls but they seemed to always skip our little village. This meant not only extremely hot picking conditions but also didn’t give us any rest days. A short and intense picking season – which we successfully managed thanks to our amazing volunteers!

Happy early morning picking! Good vibes are essential for this tedious work and time flies by when picking in good company. Maren and Gerrit from Germany with their farming background definitely knew the ins and outs of agricultural work. Though only a few days with us, they definitely contributed to the memorable picking season. And so did each and everyone who joined us this year!
Our VIP (very important pickers ;-)) Xavier and Philipp were the indispensable base throughout the entire picking season – Strong young guys with a good sense of humour who can stand and beat the heat. A very motivated and happy bunch of German graduates were eager to start the season with us – How fortunate we were to have such great spirits accompany us through the labour-intensive harvest
Hot mornings – Cool lake afternoons
One of the most enjoyable aspects of volunteering is the chance to work alongside other volunteers from all over the world. Tough farm life creates a strong sense of community, with people from all walks of life coming together to support the shared goal of a successful rose harvest. Working in this environment is both energizing and inspiring, and it’s a great way to make new friends and connections.
After a long and very hot picking morning and a relaxing brunch there was nothing better than taking a dip in the refreshing lake. – A wonderful way to spend a day, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the vibrant colors and scents of nature.
Thank you
